I am trying to track the history of two Pennsylvania RR P70 coaches that belong to the company I work for. Their currnet numbers and reporting marks are CLPX 198 and CLPX 1984. They were used on a tourist railroad in Washington state from 1990 to December 2005. Looking inside the cars yesterday , I found pest control company stickers indicating that the cars were in servive between Philadelphia and New York in 1977 and their orginal numbers were 1639 and 1650 (as far as I know the 1983 and 1984 numbers were applied by thir present owner in 1990).

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could shed light the history of these two cars.

Thanks

Go over to the Keystone Crossing web site at http://kc.pennsyrr.com/ and click on searchable data base. There you can put in as much or little information as you have and it might give you some additional information.

Later!

Dear Jason,

What is the status of the windows on these cars? Of the several P-70 coaches that survive, I do not know of any that retain the sealed windows installed by the PRR when the cars were converted to air conditioning.

Also, do the stickers state what chemicals were used? The 1970's was the era of the "Roach Coach" and this would shed some light on how this problem was addressed.

What tourist line was that? Trying to place where they were used... My only guess is the line out of Toppenish, the time frame seems to fit.

Are these the cars that were stored in Walla Walla for a long time, or are/were those other cars?
