Does anybody know for how many years ex-Detroit Edison 0-6-0 No. 202 operated on the Toledo, Lake Erie & Western in Ohio? It shows up in Steam Directories from the early 80's. Why was it sidelined, what condition is the engine in and where is the engine now?

*Inquiring* minds want to know!

Kurt, if I recall correctly, the engine hasn't run since the mid-80's. I was living in Ohio at the time and working with the GTW 4070 group. I seem to recall that the engine needed some boiler work and that there was some contact with the GTW 4070 people about some of us going over to Toledo to volunteer some time.

Don't know what condition the engine is in now.

Thanks, Ted. The status of this engine has always been an enigma to me.

202 has been out of service since around '82. She went out of service because the managemnet of TLE&W did not want to retube her. In further inspection found out the loco had a thin fire end tube sheet.

Items have stolen off the engine such as lubicator, lights etc. Now the
plans for 202 has been put indefinate hold. The management now has no desire to operate steam and insurance cost have went through the roof.

Not until more TLE&W Ry. members want steam will 202 operate again.

Offers to buy 202 have been turned down.
