Saw this on the Cripple Creek Railroads list:

Received my issue of the new Colorado Timetable today. In the Photo
Gallery is, a 65-foot Colorado & Southern turntable, going to be
installed on the current tourist line, the Cripple Creek & Victor NGRR.

The caption explaines this turntable was last used as a bridge on the
C&S Rex Branch, near Fort Collins, until the line was removed in the
mid-80s. The turntable was bought by the CC&V and stored near Mead.

It will replace the wood trestle the railroad has today, which is
located just outside Cripple Creek past Poverty Gulch. And should be
in service for the 2006 season.

Wonder if this could mean their larger Bagnall Mallet will be coming
in to service soon? Was told the wood trestle would not handle the
weight.

It has been quite a while since I was there, and over 2 years since I last saw Jim and Liz at a TRAIN convention, but as far as I know, the big engine is not a Mallet but a Kitson Meyer - anybody who knows better please correct me. It has a sort of cornish marine boiler like firebox, completely encircled by water - truly odd. I don't know if there is any economic or operational reason to bring it back into service, since the 0-4-0s are plenty big enough for the trains.

The 0-4-4-0 is a Mallet - and a sweet little one, too.

It's a Meyer - with the added complication of a marine/drumhead firebox. Bagnalls built 6-8 of them and I think about three survive - none are runners at present. I've ridden on Monarch (the ex Bowaters example) at Llanfair Caerinion many years ago. The W&L sold it the Ffestiniog and then bought it back again (actually a group of members did)....

A "Kitson-Meyer" is differs from a Meyer in that the firebox is dropped between the power bogies.
