Post subject:  Superintendent wanted in Texas

The Austin Steam Train Association, which has regularly operated steam and diesel-powered excursion trains through Austin and the Texas Hill Country since 1992, has a great opportunity for an experienced railroader to serve as our next general superintendent.
We are looking for a man or woman who can oversee our rail operations, leading a dedicated and experienced corps of volunteer railroaders. The broad responsibilities include management of passenger-train operations; maintenance of engines, cars and fixed facilities; and interfacing with regulatory authorities and other operators on our line.
We can be competitive in salary, and we offer health benefits, a congenial and hard-working team of co-workers, and an opportunity to live in a thriving community in the scenic heart of Texas.
We need someone with tourist-railroad experience, solid mechanical knowledge and expertise, an engineer's ticket, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and to work well with a force of volunteers. Diesel experience is a must and steam experience is a plus. (We are currently running with diesel power while our steam locomotive is being rebuilt.)
Interested parties may visit our website at austinsteamtrain.org, or call Executive Director Genevieve Awtry at 512-477-8468 or astaga@austin.rr.com.
