Further to the "abandoned locomotive restorations" topic below.. I saw O Winston Link's little CP 4-6-0 last fall and saw it was missing many important parts, no doubt removed when the attempt was made to make it operable again. Does anyone know what happened to these parts? If I recall, the owner of the Rome Locomotive Works was the one who was to do the repairs and later took up with Link's wife. Did the missing parts survive somewhere or get scrapped? If scrapped, this seems the greatest tragedy of the case - we can reproduce his photographs pretty easily, but valve gear forgings are more difficult. |
