| Post subject: | air compressor parts needed, HELP! |
I am searching for a needle in a haystack, so I thought I would put it out what I am looking for. In late Dec I bought a Dresser/Rand 3 cyl air compressor for Mid Continent RR museum. In all the years of hanging around the place we never had enough house air. Many of our riveting projects were lessons in futility because of it. So here is the answer, a 20 hp 3 cyl compressor. It is a Dresser #800 pump, but is actually an Ingersol with blue paint. The problem started when we went into it and checked the valves on a low pressure cyl. Farmer Brown {Bubba} got to it before we did. It is missing the piston/rod and the entire intake valve assembly. The crank is good. We cannot guess why someone would of removed the valves and piston/rod and ran it like that, but they did. So the million dollar question is: does anybody have a junk pump that we could rob parts out of? I am quitting my truck driving job, going to school and working for peanuts for the next year or so. I can't afford to put anything more into this. I didn't find out I was starting school this summer till after I bought the compressor. If I had known my situation I wouldn't of been so generous in my attempts to fix the air supply problems. So if anybody out there knows of a parts machine out there, please email me. In the mean time I will start beating the bushes around here, as well as try and get some prices on parts from local dealers. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, John. |
