I just learned that a Frisco 2-10-0 Decapod locomotive on display at Belton,Missouri I think was built for the Southern Railway. It was in service for two years before being sold to Frisco.Anyone know any more about it's SR service and if it may be available for sale or trade?I would like to see it restored as a Southern Railway loco again somewhere in Southern territory. It had a 8000 series number according to www.steamlocomotive.info.

I should have said it was one of the Decapods built for Russia but instead re-sold to Southern.

Given that said loco (Frisco "Russian Decapod" 1632, formerly at Ottawa, Kansas) operated for less than two years (more likely a mere month or three) for Southern and spent around 31 years with the Frisco and fourteen years with Eagle-Picher, this is a tenuous idea at best and a hopeless fantasy at worst.

Now, in "devil's argument" theory, one could make the case that "enough survive as Frisco 2-10-0's" (four others, including Museum of Transport and Ill. Ry. Museum), but this still hardly works. O ne could almost make the case that a Helm Leasing "rent-a-wreck" SD40 belongs in a museum in CSX territory, as many of those locos have probably spent far longer working for CSX as a rental than the 2-10-0 spent on the Southern.
