Post subject:  Kansas City Union Station and the Rail Experience

Had an opportunity to be in Kansas City last week and took the time to walk through the KC Rail Experience at Union Station. Never really previously heard much about the overall experience, however after taking the time to walk through the new exhibit, I believe it was extremely well done, and gives a very positive image to the general public of railroading of yesterday and today. The ex GN Going to the Sun Mountain, which was recently repainted at Mid America Car along with a Milwuakee diner were open for display and offer a nice overall experience of walking through a 1950's streamlined train.

Quick question, besides the diner and the round end lounge, and a Milwaukee sleeper that is at Mid America Car, I know they purchased other equipment. Does anyone know what the plans are for the balance of the un-restored equipment that is off site ?

In addition, I know the station has had its fair share of financial difficulties, however is anyone in a position to comment on what the overall future holds for the entire station operation ?

Thanks

Dean A Levin
