In the early 1950s, the D&RGW built a glass-topped observation car for the Silverton run, called the Silver Vista. After just a bit of use, the car was badly burned in a shop fire at Alamosa, and not rebuilt. D&S is now building a new version of the popular car: http://durangoherald.com/asp-bin/articl ... 0319_3.htm Another photo: http://www.ngdiscussion.net/cgi-bin/NGD ... read=72341 |

Was the frame of the first Silver Vista rebuilt into something else? |

Someone on the Narrow Gauge Discussion Forum would probably know where the parts went. Some photos of the original car, including after the fire can be found here: http://photoswest.org:8080/cgi-bin/cw_c ... 374+1+10+1 |

The original was based on a wood-framed coach. There would have been nothing left but the truss rods. JAC |
