OK, I have so thoroughly confused myself that I don't knwo which end of these cars has a platform on it? ;-) So, here is what I gathered here on on other sites and in other places CNJ 97 was 82.5 feet over the buffers and I am not sure where it is CNJ 98 is a shortie (ex coach 814), just 71'11" over the buffers and is at Kempton, PA (and still for sale as far as I know) CNJ 1179 Biela is at Clinton, NJ and is for sale CNJ 1169 Tempel is South Plainfield, NJ CNJ 1178 DeVico is in Morristown, NJ in the hands of the Tri-State NRHS guys So where is 97 and was there ever really a 99? Rob: Was the 99 the Belford, which Perry Shoemaker took with him when the Erie-ites booted him out of the Lackawanna and he took his car with him? I have heard from a source that doesn't want to be named that CNJ 97 was the PV lettered Jersey Dawn for awhile and still exists in private hands. She was vandalized more than once, so her whereabouts remain a quiet secret. And, it does indeed seem that #99 was Perry Showmaker's car. If that is tyhe case, and it is the car that was in Pittsburgh, it is now awaiting restoration in Newport, Vermont. And that, as far as I can tell, closes the book on CNJ observation cars on the roster post WWII. They all exist. That's pretty wild.
