| Post subject: | C&O 614 Web Site - New Audio - Whistle Used? |
Hello, Do I have the chimes right? The audio just added to the C&O 614's web sight sounds very much like a Reading 6-chime passenger whistle. This is my favorite whistle tone. Back in the BM&R days I recall being stationed at the Glen Gary brick plant and heard the 02 coming south from Hamburg. They had this whistle on the locomotive. Fading in and out of the trees, it was awsome. The sound gives me the impression of large steam.........at speed. When they reached the south end of Shoemakersville they would open the throttle wide and by the time they paralleled Rt. 61 she would be making 60+ If you were there, you know what I mean. This whistle and engine went together. Mr. Steve Gilbert gave me a tip on a company that produces replicas of the Reading 6-chime whistle. Their web site is located at ..........www.boothmanandjohnson.com, you can hear the whistle in a video demo on the sight. The price is not for the weak. Sounds like the real McCoy! Cheers!
