Just got the new issue of Trains in the mail yesterday. What a slam-dunk of great steam articles! Kudos in particular to Erik Ledbetter's article on the young guns of steam, carrying the torch for the next generation. Attaboy for the listings of operating steam locomotives-surely a labor of love.

I have an autistic nephew who absolutely lives for steam. Normally I send him every magazine after I'm doing reading it, but after I send him this one, I'm getting a spare for myself!

Well done, Jim, Erik, and others!

Erik does good work! And so do the folks in the article he did for us about the next generation of steam mechanics, leaders, and visionaries. Best, Jim

Jim and Erik, good job on that article. You have just touched the tip of the iceberg, as it is said. There are many more young folks who are really dedicated to the future of steam.. Just look at the group that helps the friends of the 4449, PRPA, ORHF, at the Brooklyn roundhouse in Portland, OR. Chris, Skylar, Dave, and others. They are learning from the masters, Doyle, George, Dick, Jim.......Preservation is a good thing.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. The real credit goes to all the people who agreed to be interviewed, including some very fine folks who, I am sorry to say, had to be left out of the final draft.
