I've always enjoyed then-and-now photos, which compare older views of a place with how they look today. While these are not really rail-related, here are some good views of this Colorado city, which has a very good record at preservation of its historic architecture and downtown redevelopment. Part of this is their trolley operation, with an original car on an original route. http://library.ci.fort-collins.co.us/lo ... m#intercol Sample downtown view, with trolleys - note the elaborate wires: http://library.ci.fort-collins.co.us/lo ... H02748.htm The trolley group would like to operate here again someday, but is hindered by the difficulty of crossing the busy BNSF (former Colorado & Southern) main line, which runs down Mason Street. BNSF isn't interested in accommodating such a crossing, and the trolley wire would have to be much higher now due to the increased size of equipment today. |
