Does anyone know where I might be able to locate the records of the former Industial Works?
Specifically I am looking for any info on Crane #2281 built feb 1914. It is a double ended electric crane built for Grand Central. Now owned by Metro North and on loan to the Danbury Railway Museum. I am looking for any history, prints and diagrams for this crane.

A quick search showed that the Bentley Historical Library at the University of Michigan has some microfilmed records and publications, and they may be able to provide further reference assistance.

The William L. Clements library, also at the University of Michigan, also may have some information. Clements was the son of one of the original founders of the company. They do not actively collect Industrial Works records (as they were founded as a library of early American history) however they do have a very few pieces related to the Industrial works, so you may get lucky - or they may be able to point you in the right direction.

American Hoist and Derrick donated some old records including some photos to the Ramsey County Historical Society in St. Paul MN. I know that some Brownhoist material was included but when I was there ten years ago it was all unindexed. you had to page thru about forty thick books of papers and 8x10 photos, including photos of blueprints.
