What are people using to wrap steam heat lines these days? Looking for use under car and inside of a baggage car (a public area).

On an engine I worked on a number of years ago we used a material in the cab very much like header wrap. A similar product is found in McMaster-Carr on page 3307 (type page number into search box). They have a number of thickness (1/32, 1/16, and 1/8") and widths (1, 2, 3"). Use a thin wire wound in the opposite direction to keep it in place. I think the engine I work on now (in my very limited spare time) has a rope material on some of the pipes.

- drop-warp woven fiberglass tape (bolt-hole gasket tape)

They're available with or without PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive).
