Thanks for sharing, Bob. living near Port Huron, this piqued my interest. Any ideas on what happened to that old steamer, or is it still there? I've never been to Traverse City before but plan on going that way in the next couple of years. I'd be interested in seeing what condition the ol' girl is in now. Looks like the park really built up between the time the postcard photo was taken and the other two photos. I'm kinda waiting for TJ to chime in on this one... :^) Take care and have a great weekend! |

geez... I shoulda done some research before posting the first post. After Bob's photo link, I recognized the loco. It is TJ's D.B. Harrington. He's gonna flog me for forgetting it was up in TC. Seems that Traverse City had it in it's possession from 1933 to 1965. Then toured a few locations in Ohio before coming back home to Port Huron recently. The steamer is in an annex to the Museum, but out of sight from visitors. TJ had mentioned before of his desire to find a place to display this historic local locomotive for all to see. Too bad the old GTW Port Huron Shops are way too big... they'd make a GREAT RR Museum grounds, and maybe a little room for the Harrington to stretch it's legs! ;^) Here's the lineage of the old bird: http://www.steamlocomotive.info/vownership.cfm?display=659 |

Somehow, I missed the fact that there is a cosmetic restoration of this 3' gauge 2-4-0 being done up in Port Huron, Michigan. The historic locomotive was built by Porter, Bell & Company back in 1878. Anyone have an update on the status of this project? Les |

It was displayed at Cedar Point for close to twenty years. At that point it was the personal property of George Roose who bought Cedar Point back in the late 1950's and started it's conversion to what it is today. He built the Cedar Point & Lake Erie RR with his own money and ran it as a concession until the corporation management realized it was a money making operation and bought it from him. When he retired from the board of directors the Harrington and a Vulcan tank engine that was his were removed from the park and stored at International Amusement Devices in Dayton OH, which was owned and operated by his son. From there you can trace the ownership from the Steam Locomotive Info site. |

According to a photo report on the AOTT website, it appears that a new wood cab has been constructed for the 2-4-0 using the old cab for dimensions. Looks great! Les |

In addition to the new wooden cab mentioned above, new running boards have been made for the narrow gauge 2-4-0. Hopefully we will get to see a photo of these running boards and the new cab once they are actually installed on the little Porter. Les |

Les Looks like a new Food Hall & Entertainment Venue in Port Huron. https://www.bluewater.org/member-detail/wrigley-center/ I do not believe it has been moved yet. This was just an announcement that it has found a permanent display home. |
