She looks great now that the cab does not droop. An unexpected benefit of straightening the frame is how much better the tender looks since it had to be raised to match the new drawbar height.

The fact that such a small group can pull off a repair like this gives me hope for other small groups out there.

My congratulations to the WGHSEA.

Another one brought back in the lineup! Are they going to put boiler jacketing on it?

There are still a few quirks to work out, but all-in-all, she's back!

Of course, anyone who wants to come out and lend a hand, all are welcome, there are many more test firings to come as we continue work on the injector system and the electrical system. She also needs a good paint job!

Anyone wishing to come out, PM me for directions or just show up, most Saturday's and Sunday's someone is there between 8AM and Noon, there is a lunch break, and then back to work most days.

For those of you railfans who want to lend a hand, but don't want to come out for only four hours of work - there is plenty of great railfanning nearby, Strasburg, Enola, Rockville, and we are adjacent to the NS Lurgan Division.

Also, stay tuned for the return of the Engineer's Schools -- yes you can learn to fire the only operating PRR Steam Engine in the world! Dates and fees will be announced soon.

Thank you to everone for the nice words shared and your continued support.

Eric,

I am not sure but I rather doubt they will put the jacket back on. The jacket was removed to prevent boiler deterioration severaly years ago. This engine unfortunately sits, usually under cover, a large percentage of the time and they are concerned about wet lagging. Personally I would like to see the jacket put on but I understand the logic.

That was a long, long time ago. 1223 was retired from Strasburg service in 1990 and "7002" in 1989. A shame - they were sweethearts.
