From a friend in the Washington DC area, I've learned that Brian Manwiller died over the weekend after a lengthly fight with cancer.

Brian was active in NRHS and served as President of the Washington DC chapter in the late 1970's / early 80's. Under his leadership the Washington Chapter co-sponsored the 1979 NRHS convention and it was, in part, because of his efforts that the Dover Harbor was preserved and became operational again.

I remember Brian well from the days of the Southern and NS steam excursions. He made tremendous contributions to rail enthusiast activities in the DC area and I am saddened to hear of his passing.
