Just some interesting trivia:

1906: San Francisco is struck by a massive earthquake; the Sierra's founders sustain heavy losses. (This also marks the 'ceremonial' last day of construction on the Yosemite Short Line...)
1955: Loco #38 closes out the SRR's steam freight era, pulling train #4 from Oakdale to Jamestown. Diesels #40 & #42 make the return trip
