Given the nature of this locomotive, is there one manufacturer in the US which could produce an ACE-3000 today?

Being in the UK I can't speak of US facilities but such a beast could be constructed in Europe with different places doing different bits and it all coming together at a central site.

I agree with Martyn - it would take a consortium of different suppliers working together, each doing what they do best, to pull off a project of this complexity. I wouldn't limit it to either Europe or America, but the best of all continents.

The original plan for ACE was to have most components provided by outside suppliers and assembled in a central location. I'd think any sufficiently large, amply equipped industrial fabrication shop with overhead cranes and rail service would fit the bill.

Do you have something specific in mind? :-)
