We are thining the steam collection of the Great Western Railroad Museum.
First of the locomotives to be sold is Great Northern 2-8-0 #1246.

She was displayed in Seattle, WA from 1958 until the early 1980's when she was shipped to Oregon.
These photos show her as she appears today at Merrill, OR. Photos are on Trainorders under Steam Discussion.

The sale price is $35,000. She is on a rail spur so shipment is relatively easy.

Serious inquiries should be sent to:

With the introduction of the RyPN Classifieds, we ask that announcements of items for sale like this one be posted on the Classifieds rather than the Interchange.

That looks like a good engine for the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad? I think it would look great with the green boiler jacket possibly double-heading with a green Southern 2-8-0 722 one day.

It would, but I am not sure what Ryan needs most right now is another dead steamer clogging up his enginehouse. What he's got stacked up already is job security for him for many years.

Wouldn't this do better on the Creede branch than a FEC light pacific, though?

Boy, she'd be the perfect engine for our proposed 20 mile round trip passenger run, but a bit expensive asking price for us. How about the Minnesota Transportation Museum in St. Paul? Or the Lake Superior Railroad Museum in Duluth? Both places are GN "on line" spots.

You say "these photos", but there is no link.

Also, how is this part of Kepner's "collection" and also owned by someone else?
