Shades of my youth... The yellow crossbuck in the C&LC picture is not colour drift, but one of Michigan's quirks, allowing yellow on low traffic lines (remember yellow stop signs) and stop signs if there were passenger trains or heavy traffic. I have not seen a yellow crossbuck in years but the law still allows stop signs on unsignalled crossings with more than two trains a day.
