Western Pacific Caboose 470 has been offered to the Western Pacific Railroad Museum in Portola. The offer is for 5,000 plus moving expenses (Still to be determined). The owner is coming up against a deadline of June 10, 2006 to get it paid for and moved. The problem is we (WPRM) don't have the 5k.

We are appealing to the railfan and WP fan communty to help us obtain this caboose. This caboose is in great shape. it is from the second class of WP Steel BW Cabooses. This class is not saved at the museum and it will make a great addition. So far we have raised just over 2500.00, meaning we still have half way to go

If you can help, please contact me at frrsweb@sbcglobal.net, I have copies of the inspection report and photos that is available on request.

Please help us if you can save this caboose.

With the introduction of the RyPN Classifieds, we ask that worthy solicitations like this one be posted on the Classifieds rather than the Interchange.

It is interesting to note that there are 3 pieces of railroad equipment under restoration with the number 470. In addition to the WP caboose, there is our Lackawanna diner 470 and of course Maine Central steam locomotive 470.
