I understand that the the MILW experimented with a FM engine (Trainmaster?) sometime in the late 1940's - early 1950's and sent a demo FM clear out west on the electrified lines in the winter to see how it would perform.

I'm curious as my dad had a fuel contract with the MILW and was asked to be ready with a truckload of diesel when the loco arrived in our town. The train was running so late (hours behind) and the temp was so cold that my dad was afraid the fuel wouldn't pump into the FM when it arrived (it finally did).

Does anyone know about or have ever heard of such a demo run?

Thanks in advance!

Scott
