I am just back from Washington, D.C. where I saw three of the Smithsonian Museums. ine the history museum I saw the fairly new America in Motion exhibit. They have combined the Old Railroad Hall with other forms of transportation, including street cars and motor vehicles. The old stand bys like the Southern steam engine are still on display and the narrow gauge .Jupitor from Santa Cruz, California. The John Bull is still near by on her iron bridge. The new exhibit does best with a portion of a Chicago Loop station and a half of an elevated car. The end wall is a movie with life size people coming and going and talking to each other. for those instereste in antique cars, the Route 66 exhibit is foll of period items, even motorcycles. And a section of the actual road! Sadly, the whole American History Museum will close late this summer for work on the building. So if you are going to the District any time soon stop by for a look.
