Bob: Weren't a couple of genuine T&NO engines preserved? If so, wonder why they had to go out and buy an old CN 2-8-0? I seem to recall that the 137 (CN 2164) was in some kind of a fire that ended its excursion career. Les |

Les and Bob, From sources I have seen there are actually 4 T&NO engines still around. 3 in Ontario and 1 in Quebec. Steve |

Steve: Didn't realize there were that many. Do you happen to know the types and engine numbers? Les |

The steamlocomotive.info website has 3 Ontario Northland engines preserved: 4-6-0 No. 219 in Cochrane, Ontario 4-6-2 No. 701 in Englehart, Ontario 2-8-0 No. 503 in North Bay, Ontario I'm not sure about the one in Quebec mentioned previously. Ontario Northland was previously known as the Temiskaming and Northern Ontario. It is interesting that one of reasons for the name change in 1946 was to prevent cars being misdirected to Texas and to stop getting invoices meant for the other T & NO! |

The one in Quebec is at Sept-Iles, at the Quebec North Shore & Labrador Headquarters. The 4-6-2 was originally TEM #159, but is now QNS&L #702. Ken |
