The Catskill & Tannersville was the 3 foot connector between the summit of the Otis Elevator Railroad at the Catskill Mountain House, and the Village of Tannersville, New York (about 5 miles). The line was scrapped in 1919. I was wondering if anyone knew the ultimate fate of its two locomotives. The William F. Helmer book "Rip Van Winkle Railroads" has this information: C&T No. 1 - The Isaac Pruyn, 2-6-0, Baldwin #32715 Built 1908, 42 14X20 63,000 C&T No. 2 - The Alfred V. S. Olcott, 2-6-0, Baldwin #18884, Built 1901, 42 14X20 63,000 Per the Helmer book, the disposition was: for No. 1: Sold to Birmingham Rail and Locomotive Co., 1924 for $1,750. to Bellvue & Cascade No. 3, them C. M. St. P & P No. 2. for No. 2: Sold to Birmingham Rail and Locomotive Co., 1924 for $1,750. to Bellvue & Cascade No. 2, them C. M. St. P & P No. 3. What happened to them after they worked at the Milwaukee Road? When were they scrapped? Ernie Hunt |

One source I've seen (can't remember where) showed them sold to Cuba. Someone on the Narrow Gauge Discussion Forum might know more. http://www.ngdiscussion.net/cgi-bin/NGDFcook.pl |
