The Sumpter Valley Narrow Gauge did a fine job of "reproducing" the WP&Y 81 on May 6 and 7. I had never seen a photo of the original prior to your post, but here is what SV did.

Yes, they did well. Only the tender was different, the present tender having stayed on the Sumpter Valley after the 19 left for Alaska, to be used behind one of the Uintah 2-6-6-2s, ending up finally in Guatemala. The tender in the early photo was (I think) from either SV 4-6-0 50 or one of the earlier SV 2-8-2s, which had been shipped to Peru. There was much discussion of this on the White Pass Yahoo group some time ago, but I can't remember which tender ended up where. In later years on the WP&Y, the 81 trailed an ex-USATC 2-8-2 tender.
