Generally, like to say since we moved to Sunshine I have been very pleased with the performance of both the RyPN home page, on a Windows server, and the Interchange, on a Unix server.

There is no question the Moby Threads (threaded view) slows things down. I was able to up the number of topics displayed per page when we moved to Sunshine from 25 to 50. On the old Interland server this would cause a crash. It worked on the Sunshine server, but maybe not as well as hoped. So, I set it back down to 25 per page.

Also, what is slow? I have noticed RyPN is slower than some sites. Generally those sites are mega sites, Google, Ebay, New York Times, etc. that probably spend hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars on their websites. We are all volunteer and our hosting is donated. So, I think waiting 2-3 seconds for the site to load isn't an issue. (Note the download lag time for me happens on the Interchange only, the homepage is instantaneous.)

I am more concerned about load times for people on dial up connections and people who can't access at all. And, the reason we left Interland was because the SERVICE UNAVAILABLE message was becoming the rule rather than the exception.

So, very interested to know if anybody gets that UNAVAILABLE message anymore. I thought that problem was gone, but, I only access the site briefly during the days, and for routine site maintenance at night.

And, for our dial up people, like to know what the load time is. 2-3 seconds, 5-10 seconds, etc.?

And, like to know if anybody has persistent problems just accessing the site, i.e. can't get there.

We will do all we can to ensure everyone can reliably access the site in a reasonable fashion. But, our resources are limited and we can't fix everybody's problems, some of which may be due to their service provider's settings, restrictions, etc.

My schedule is very busy and it's only going to get worse as I am going overseas for a few weeks. So, my time for troubleshooting is even more limited than normal, but if anybody has serious access issues (and sorry, you have to wait 3 seconds before Moby Threads downloads doesn't qualify), please let me know.
