Just an update on why the pit is done but no turntable in sight. The motors have been rebuilt and delivered to the Museum courtesy of Electric Motor Supply in Altoona. Thanks to all the great folks out there for their generous donation. The bridge itself needs some steel fabrication work. It is being done by our next door neighbors here - Altoona Pipe and Steel Supply Company. For those of you who have never been here, they not only do steel fabrication for construction/building projects but they repair and rebuild railcars next door to us everyday. The axles and wheels for the turntable are being redone by ORX Corporation here in the area as well. We are hoping to begin reassembly of the bridge in the next few weeks. Taking longer than anyone here really wanted it to but as many of you will understand, it is hard to thank a vendor for their donated time and effort to do these things for us and at the same time ask them to please hurry up. We will keep you posted. |

We in the museums and non-profits of the world can not thank our donors enough for their monetary and physical efforts. Another neat little thing that is part of the Railroaders Memorial Museum is the Railroader's Callboard. It's a listing of railoraders past and present who have in some function or another,helped to keep the trains moving. If you or someone in your family are or have been a railroad employee,why not submit your or thier name to the Callboard and be counted along with the other 177,000 railroaders. Hi Scott - is the red roofed structure over the pasenger cars to the left in the photo a modular sectional roundhouse that can be expanded? If so, would you mind sharing the dimensions and cost per section? Could solve a lot of problems. dave |

Dave, Yes the structure in the picture is the "outline" of the first of what we hope is 7 bays of our Quarter Roundhouse. The building was designed to be modular so it can be added to as funding comes available. The bay is 125 feet long and there should be 4 of those when we are finished. Bordering the parking lot of the Museum, the bays are shortened to 90 feet to fit within the fence line. ONe of the 125 foot bays will be the home of K4 #1361. I order from the spot next to where the GG1 locomotive is parked, the bays should be arranged as follows: Bay 1 - GG-1 4913 Bay 2 - exisiting bay - pass thru bay from yard lead to the table Bay 3 - Loretto Bay 4 - K4 1361 - including a work pit under the loco and a drop table at the back of the bay Bay 5 - first short bay - machine shop and storage for our Vulcan 0-4-0 Bay 6 - Robert Hannegan - Pennsy RPO Bay 7 - Jacks Narrow - Pennsy streamliner - Observation car from the Spirit of St Louis As far as cost, I will have to let you know as soon as the contract for the remainder of the building is awarded in August. the first bay included a great deal of trackwork and that bay included no walls, floor, mechanicals, etc. Thanks |

Scott, are there any updates to share about 1361? Last good update was that the new backhead was set to be reunited with the rest of the boiler. What has happened since. |

I know its been awhile since an update. Give me a few days to compile some photos to show everyone what's going on and gather my thoughts from the 3 days I spent working on the locomotive recently and I will update you all next week. Thanks |
