How The West Was Won was not filmed around Durango. Some river scenes and those of the wagon train were done in the Montrose and Ridgway areas. The railroad scenes were done in South Dakota at Wind Cave National Park and on the Magma Arizona Railroad in Arizona. Wish these people would get their facts straight before publishing this crap. All of the movie pictures in that website are from "Colorado Territory" shot in 1948 east of Durango. |

Umm, I think the Webmaster states at the top of the page (we're talking about the D&SNG pages on durango.com here--note that this is not an official site of the D&SNGRR) that all the pictures on the page are from Colorado Territory.
