Post subject:  Re: Strasburg question,,,trackwork

any major trackwork is generally done very early in the year, there are no scheduled trains operating in the month of jan and most of feb. any unexpected trackwork in season is done around the reg train schedule. the line is inspected routinely and it's condition is a well know fact at any given time through the operating season, although strasburg has regular track inspection the engine crews are very adept at spotting potential problems and know first hand the condition of the line from their perspective in daily operations. i'm a carpenter for the SRC car shop and am not involved directly in trackwork but thought my veiw might be helpful in answering your basic question, if not hopefully someone from SRC will give a more detailed answer mark andrews
