I'd say, let things on this board alone.

As much as we all like this pursuit and the people in it, there are also charletans and out and out shysters in it too. I would rather have the access to the information someone who knows of such goings might reveal if it can be done annonymously, than to be without it all together.

We are all big boys here, and can pretty well tell the bovine feces, petty jelousys, and false accusations, from legitamate negative information.This ain't the ladies auxillery decaffenated tea club.

The real cash value of locos is a legitamate topic that will stir people up; the aftermath of Medina,whether or not the EBT should come under the FRA; ALL of these and more must be addressed here, and some folks involved may need to share information without fear of retribution.

It attests to the quality of the work the RPYN team has done that this board is as good as it is, but it also reflects to the quality of its participants, and their maturity and seriousness in preservation. Let the individuals who visit censor themselves and what they read. I have yet to see a flame war break out, although there have been some heated discussions peppered with sarcastic wit, much to the delight of our British brethren for sure.

But my fear is if this board is "Sanitized" for my protection, to any degree, then there will no longer be any valuable exchanges on controversial subjects, and we'll be left with such things as "I saw a UP coal train in a picture with 100 cars. That equals 400 axles. WEEEE."(I'm am on a group that gets that all the time.)

Let the information roll, and let the reader decide to read it, or skip it.

My sympathies lay with leaving the board alone. I see nothing wrong with the poster format as it exists today. I would agree tht all slanderous postings should be pulled immediatly, but otherwise, the group is a wealth of information. Please leave it alone.

Don't worry,this site is not shutting down.We only want to know who is posting messages.Screennames are tolerated because RyPN doesn't want to ignore the excellent comments that readers make.However,we also like to know who is posting messages because a person who uses their real name and e-mail will be less likely to post off the wall comments or subjects.The interchange will not change as we know it,only perhaps that the people who want to post messages will be required to register their real name and e-mail address with RyPN,just like when using the Timetable.
Everything else will be as it always has.Have I missed anything Hume?

Brian is correct. Whatever happens we will change things as little as possible. Probably shouldn't have listed option D as it's really not practical.

Regardless, we started out with the vast majority of respondants being in favor of option C or D, but know I'd say it's 50-50 for poeple who don't want any changes, or at most option B.

Maybe we should have two boards, one open like the IC is now, and the other requiring registration.

Dave, for you I'll make time. Actually, setting up the board, or boards, only takes a short while, less than two hours (at least now that I know how to do it).
