Some of you will have noticed an escalating number of spam posts. Mods delete these as soon as we see them, but we cannot watch the board every minute and you may be momentarily inconvenienced by them.

Please don't post about them or reply to them, as that only makes more threads the Mods must delete.

We will be talking with our excellent hosting provider, Doug Bailey and Sunserver, about technical steps we can take to reduce this problem.(Have I thanked Doug again lately for donating hosting for the Interchange?)

PLease bear with us while we work to reduce the problem.

I assume that you are also suspending access to this board for spam posters.

Hi Erik,
The Mods are doing a great job here on the interchange and the classifieds. I have seen only about 3 spams in the past several months. I want to personally thank them all for the work and effort they put into their work.

Andrew,

We appreciate your comments. Moderating this forum is pretty easy most of the time. I've been doing it about nine months now, and have deleted only about half a dozone flames, and locked about two topics, one of which I unlocked after several days to allow tempers to cool.

Incidentally, I just deleted a post advertising Diazepam.

Evidently theres some pretty creative people out there lately. A few Yahoo groups I belong to were recently infected with a "tagging" type of virus that attached itself to group members messages. It then continued to post messages with regard to an alternative life-style group using individual members addresses. Some people had to start new accounts. I probably didn't explain this correctly, but nonetheless, it was a problem. It's sad to see a few bad apples spoiling it for everyone else.
