Did anyone even know that two PRR E-8s made a run from Hoboken NJ to Bay Head NJ today? I didn't know until this morning and I didn't have time to go see because of work. Were in Bay Head from about 4:50 to 5:20. Only about two hours ago(at least from the time I am typing this). -Eric |

Yup, I saw them. Looked fantastic. Watched them come in and go around the loop. Then depart about 20 minutes later or so. If anything power was over kill for the 6 or so cars which did also looked fantastic. Who ever pulled it together many thanks. It was a real treat. If I was smart enough to post a picture here I would. Let me know how at jrmay@monmouth.com and I will put up a couple or send direct. J.R. |

I only heard about this tonight although no one knew that the run was actually today, thinking it was in the future. The E-8's had been in South Kearny for a couple of days. The rumor was some kind of trip by New Jersey Transit big-wigs from Hoboken to Bay Head for some kind of promotion. The consist was supposedly going to be PV coaches, etc to give a nostalgic feeling. Can someone who saw this train tell us if there were in fact private cars in the consist? Thanks in advance. |

The drumhead on the PRR 120 read "Railway Age - Sesquicentennial Limited". Consist was the two E8A's and three Morristown and Erie cars, as well as Mr. Levin's three cars. There was an APTA Commuter and Light Rail meeting at the Hilton in New York this week. Besides celebrating 150 years of Railway Age, the train benefited the American Public Transportatin Foundation Transit Hall of Fame Scholarship program. The train was sponssored by a varietyof car builders, suppliers, consultants, railroads, etc. Cars originally came from PRR(2) , NYC(1), CN(1) and SP(2). An interesting sidelight is that Railway Age can trace it's history back to the Western Railroad Gazette, founded in 1856 in Chicago. It may well be the, if not one of the, longest continually published trade journals around. |

There was a blurb about them several weeks ago on that other site that you cannot access unless you have fire fox or something like that. Later! Mr. Ed |

Here's the photos of the PRR E-8's from the Bayhead area by JRMay. He had a bit of a probem with posting them, so I hosted them on some spare webspace for him. Ask JR any questions you might have. http://www.eaglesgroundforce.com/images/prr1.jpg http://www.eaglesgroundforce.com/images/prr2.jpg http://www.eaglesgroundforce.com/images/prr4.jpg http://www.eaglesgroundforce.com/images/prr5.jpg http://www.eaglesgroundforce.com/sitebuilder/images/prr8-449x600.jpg |
