Judging from a whole bunch of personal messages and e-mails I've gotten in the past week or so, I'm forced to clarify something:

The cars I listed in detail earlier are ALREADY bite-sized pieces. Forget it. End of story. Nothing to see here, move along!

I'm finding myself screaming in anger at the top of my lungs at e-mails from people who, all of a sudden, seem interested in the cars--now that there's in little bitty pieces.. This is AFTER the B&O Museum and I have spent months supposedly/definitely making the presence and availability of these cars known to other preservationists.

For the last time, my question is NOT "do you want any of these cars?" It's FAR too late for that. My question--and a far more relevant and important one at that--was "what response, if any, did you get from the B&O Museum if, and only if, you actually attempted to get information about any of the cars for preservation elsewhere?"

Geez, maybe I should go find some random SD40-2 on CSX or NS, have it pulled up to a museum, and start cutting holes in it. Then maybe someone will be interested in saving one. Maybe that'll work with those Pullman day coaches I have a lead on, or that GG1...........

I am sorry about your frustration; but it appears to take getting the cutting torches out sometimes to get things moving off of dead center. Look at all of the attention given NYC Tug #16, the Manxman, and Nobska with news of their pending scrapping. The first two may be saved; but the last one is history by now, I assume.

How many other "eleventh hour rescues" (even 11:59:59) are out there? Is the sense of impending loss, the thrill of pulling victory out of the jaws of defeat, or just plain old procrastination at it's finest? One of these days we'll figure it out. :)
