Can anyone relate the current status of the shops complex at Paducah? I believe it was at one time one of the main heavy shops of the IC?? I'm told that a private corporation purchased the complex and does contract work on railroad rolling stock?
Any info will be much appreciated. Thanks, Ross Rowland

VMV is (was?) affiliated with the Paducah & Louisville Railway.

I believe VMV shutdown and NRE in Silvis, IL picked it up. The VMV name may still exist as a subsidiary of NRE.

That is absolutely correct, Gerald. It is now owned by NRE. I love the disclaimer they have on the website that they are not connected with the "old" VMV.

I still remember the CMO of one railroad telling me about what a wonderful low price the "old" VMV had bid for rebuilding one of his units. A couple months later VMV closed, and his unit was inside. I wonder if he ever got it back.

If I'm not mistaken, VMV did the rebuild/conversions on the up E-unit trio in 1993. They went back at least once for 'warranty work'.
