The Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad has acquired a lot of locomotives in the past three years, to mention a few: One Great Miami & Scioto Railroad B23-7, Five Grand Trunk SD-38's, Three Norfolk Southern C30-7's, and the railroad has been leasing Conrail and CSX SD-50's. Now again the railroad has acquired more locomotives, such as: One Northfolk Southern SD-40, Three Union Pacific SD-50's, One Union Pacific SD-40-2, One Southern Pacific SD45-R, and One Southern Pacific SD-40-2T. The railroad owner, Andy Muller, is supposed to be going out West again to purchase more locomotives! "The Union Pacific SD-50's and Southern Pacific SD-40-2T, and Southern Pacific SD-45-R arrived on the Reading & Northern property on Wednesday, September 5, 2001. The three SD50's are currently receiving their initial inspection at the Reading & Northern's Port Clinton shops. The SD40-2T and SD45R have been shipped to the R.M. Delevan Inc. facility in Pittston, PA for an initial inspection and evaluation. The SD-50's should be the first locomotives to be placed into service and are expected to spend the majority of their time on the Lehigh Line between Lehighton and Pittston." norfolk_western_611@hotmail.com |

And your point is what? I direct your attention to the top of the screen. Nowhere does it say Gerf (Glassy Eyed Railfan)Central or Foamers Anonymous. Please limit your postings to topics related to historic railroad preservation. lorija799@aol.com |

Aaron, this thread would be much more appropriate on teh Chaski Railfan WWWBoard, which I moderate. Its a more open "Railfan Clubhouse" sort of board, but uses the same basic architecture as the Interchange, so you'll find it all very familiar. Follow the link below. It has to do with 6ET (engine-tender) brakes, which is one of the common types of airbrake systems on preserved steam locomotives, and it has a varient that is used on early diesels. Most users of this board are looking for exchanges about topics relating to preserving and /or operating historic railroad artifacts. The sd governor on the 6et brakesystem fits that definition. Unless one has seen a phantom NYC hudson running somewhere, trainspotting isn't within the real scope of this forum. The only foaming here occurs when someone uses too much boiler compound. lorija799@aol.com |

I didn't realize that I would be raising some dander by posting a question relating to a very common Westinghouse compressor governor. I was seeking a better explanation than I felt the Westinghouse authors gave so I could better explain its "dual personality". Thank you to those who responded to my posting.
