These locomotives look great. No need to apologize for the appearence, although I will say that Americanizing them after they've been introduced to the public would be my first choice.

No need to appologize nor Americanize them.
It remains true to form left as is. The real deal.
I never got a chance to visit China but having these QJ's
here in the US will be a great opportunity to nearly do so!

The intent, as I heard, was a gamble to see if anyone
would be interested in purchasing a "newer" ready to run
steam engine for one reason or another, most likely for
use in a tourist operation which would obviously be
passenger service, though I heard it was a possibility that
they could be broken in with freight runs.

Can they press the wheels in to 3 ft gauge? The loop needs a little help with a good running steam engine!!!!!! LOL

A QJ might be a wee bit big for that. But I'll bet you could make a nice 3 foot gauge outside framed D&RGW-type 2-8-2 out of an SY!

Too bad those 2' gauge Baldwin 0-10-0s quit running in 91. I was lucky to see them in action in 1989.
