Winnipeg news have a story of a stuffed and mounted loco in dire need of attention with the possibility of scrapping.
Only info is the year built, 1926. Could this be the 6043???

If so, a poor fate for this loco in the having the honours of pulling the last scheduled passenger train on Canadian National in 1960

No, this would be ex-CNR 2747 a 2-8-0. It was one of the first CN built locos in the Transcona shops. I think a local group is tryng to raise some money to get it moved to their site.

Mind you, 6043 appears to be a mess in the pictures I've seen. I had some family there back in July and they couldn't find it in Assiniboine Park where it was supposed to be so maybe it's been moved. Perhaps someone here knows.

I hauled J. David Conrad's book out and looked up CN #2747. According to J. David, this engine WAS built in the CN's Transcona Shops in 1926 using the boiler from CN #2647, originally built by Montreal Locomotive Works in 1910. My question is, what type of an engine was #2647? Also, what is the name of the local museum which is trying to secure the funds to move it to their site?

2647 was another (older) 2-8-0. The group that owns 2747 is apparently the Midwestern Rail Association and the museum to which they are looking to relocate the engine is the Winnipeg Railway Museum. They estimate the cost of the move to be around $100,000 according to news reports.
