A friend and fellow northeast PA historian directed my attention to the news that "Big Mike" Mike Bednar had a stroke last week.

Most folks know Mike from his excellent Lehigh Valley area books, as well as his regular column in TRP magazine, but if you have ever taken to research and historic documention of the lines in the Lehigh Valley area, chances are you have encountered the knowledgeable and gregarious Mike Bednar in person.

Mike has made it his duty to preserve in film and text the one aspect of railroading missing from so many books and displays: the people.

If I could ever pick one trait in a co-worker, it would be that they have the same love of job and brotherhood as Mike.

Tonight's prayers are for Mike.

Sorry to hear this, railroaded, and rode with "Big Mike" many times. A true nice guy! My prayers are with him.
