Post subject:  Hardin Southern
In the recent thread on ther whereabouts of former passenger equipment in the old Norfolk Southern steam program, a mention is made of the Hardin Southern operation in Kentucky being closed down within the last year or two. Does anyone know the status of the 2-6-2 that the HS was restoring to service? This engine was once part of the Thompson Winery collection located in Monee, Illinois.

Tom, Les,

From what I heard yesterday, the SW-1, 3 passenger cars and caboose have been sold. I don't know to whom, though. Last Thursday, the SW-1 was started for the first time in almost 2 years and used to break the train apart and check air brakes, etc.. From having contact with the Calloway Co. EDC, I learned yesterday that the equipment had been sold and is being prepared for shipment. I don't know where, though. I don't know the status of #4.

This causes a dilema for me, though as I own the 20 ton Davenport that is on the property. Not having the finances to move it and it sitting on EDC property, puts the locomotive and me in a bad position. I have asked for help on a few yahoo groups, so I'll ask here. Anyone want to help move a 20 ton Davenport? I'll entertain offers and ideas. I don't want to part with the locomotive, but in the best interest of the locomotive, if that's what I have to do to see it saved again, I will. It was the last big project my dad and I worked on before he passed away.
