Just a photo of the interesting trackage leading into this EBT building, which still contains a rusty standard gauge 0-6-0.

And it also contains (last I looked) the "motive power" for the Mt. Union Connecting Railroad, a rusty standard-gauge Plymouth.

Here's the unit in April 2004. According to reports a couple weeks ago the unit's prime mover ran for the first time since arriving. Electrical issues are still being sorted out though and the unit has not moved under its own power yet.

Hi,
Is that 4-rail track in the enginehouse?
Is there a pit or a smoke jack that requires the center of NG and SG locos to be the same?

Yes it is four rail track. It has a half draw on the lead that converts the three rail to four. There is a pit on this stall that was for both gauge locos. The other lead is a pit for standard gauge only, wth the NG rail ending at the start of the pit. Both stalls had smokeacks as well.

What's the condition of the teakettle? I wonder where else in the US has an engine remained exactly where it was when its last fire was dropped.

In the photo of the diesel, it almost looks as if the tender of EBT 0-6-0 # 3 has a coat of primer. Has, in fact, the tender been worked on recently, or is the photo just an optical illusion?

I think that is dust or more like dirt you are seeing.

It is just a layer of dust. No work has occured on #3.

When I was last in Mt. Union, maybe a dozen years ago, I peered into the abandoned enginehouse through one of the windows, as many others must have done over the years, for a look at the 0-6-0. The windows were closed up to keep out miscreants, not with boards, but with heavy steel sheets that looked at first like tube sheets. But the sheets of boiler plate were far too large and the holes too small. After pondering these sheets for a while, I guessed they must be screens from coal breakers. Am I right?

Don't know what they are from, but there are many of them around, most used in place of grating over pits. They are in both MU and Rockhill. Also too thin for tube sheets. Maybe water tank baffles?
