This Durango group has recently updated their restoration efforts on 2-8-0 315. Looks like they are making good progress.

All steamed up and nowhere to go? Do they have formal plans to move the engine somewhere?

What a truely wonderful job this appears to be! Bravo guys.......And here is to more successful volunteer efforts such as this working hand in hand with a for profit railroad. This is a good example of what needs to happen for steam to continue to thrive in this country.

See flimsies today.

After $500,000 operational restoration, is it really possible they would just leave it in the park?

Since no one from the DRRHS has popped in, I'll offer what I've heard. Please note, however, that I'm not a member of this fine group and have no official information.

According to posts made at the NGDF, the group is talking to both the Durango & Silverton and the Cumbres & Toltec about possible operations next year, though nothing has currently been settled. A lot apparently depends on what gets done when, but it sure seems like the group does intend to operate this little jewel if at all possible.

Seems to me there's another Colorado line that could use a working steamer about this size rebuilt by competent individuals. Anybody talking lease?

HEY, we can link this conversation to the "engine share" thread!

I wanted to second what you said!

The smaller, older elements of the D&RGW have long been of interest to me. It will be great to see this engine running on her native rails.

Does anyone know if there were any large money donars or was it like I suspect a whole lot of little donations?

The 315 web site has a great line of photos from taking off the Hollywood movie props to the FRA hydrotest performed just a couple of weeks ago.

Next year should be something to see!
