I know there had been talk of contracting out the operation of the Texas State Railroad. However, I thought it had ended there...until recently. Has the state of Texas infact reached an agreement with American Heritage?

I do hope something has happened, would be a shame to see that wealthy state allow such a unique operation to die.

Not yet, it would seem. The State has come up with funding to operate the railroad through late spring or summer 2007.

A public entity has been formed by Rusk & Palestine, apparently from elements of the TSRR Preservation Task Force, with a goal to accept/acquire the assets of the TSRR. It seems that this entity will in turn propose that the State divest itself of TSRR and hand it over to them. It follows that the Task Force is potentially keeping communication open with American Heritage in the event that happens..
