I'm delighted that she is still with us. I'm sorry that her namesake, the Queen's younger sister (1930-2002) is not. |

It was on display, complete, two weeks ago alongside 6233... |

Unfortunately the photo has been ripped (that is copied and illegally published) from a book titled "The Best of Eric Treacy" published by David & Charles 1994. I do not imagine that the copywright holder will come chasing the copier but I do wish that he had acknowledged the source. The bishop died in 1978 in the act of photogaphing 92220 at Appleby. Either the NRM or Millbrook House hold the copywright. The scene is at Harthope on Beattock bank, a well used photographic location. The train is the 1115hrs Birmingham - Glasgow express. |

I thought I'd taken a picture of it at the Midland Railway Centre. However, when I got round to downloading the images, I found that I hadn't mainly because there were too many idiots in hi-vis jackets in the way. Took one of 6233 (a rear three quarter shot) though. The MRC is not the most exciting place I've ever visited..... |

I seem to remember hearing something a couple of years ago about restoring one of these engines to their pre-war streamlined appearance. Did anything ever happen? They'd look great next to a Gresley A4. Jason |

Jason You're thinking about the Duchess class. The Princess Royal class was never streamlined. http://www.nrm.org.uk/pressoffice/press ... uchess.asp Two photos from May 2006, when it was painted in two schemes simultaneously:

The 1946 black is one classy livery - I'm currently looking for a Hornby example in this livery (with the de-streamlined smokebox).... |

I shall respectfully disagree. I like her in red. |

The LMS 1946 livery is very rare, which is probably why I like it, whereas some of them were red for most of their existance. Two are currently red and the other is green. "Duchess of Hamilton" will, presumably, be painted red when the streamlining is reapplied. 6233 at the end of August 2006 on display at the Midland Railway Centre
