Post subject:  Newburyport bridge disaster

Interesting newspiece from 1908, about a Boston & Maine 4-4-0 that plunged off an open drawbridge into the Merrimack River in Massachusetts, including photos that show how the locomotive was recovered:

I'm not sure, but think this bridge still exists, though not in use.

Story seems to spend a lot of time on the fireman, why no mention of the engineer? Was it to avoid public embarrassment ?
