Post subject:  The Chestnut Ridge Railroad's Power

I have been trying to find out some information regarding the Chestnut Ridge Railroad's one locomotive. It is a GP-7 (I think!) and is rarely used by the railroad. It said to be an ex - Reading Railroad locomotive?!?! Is this true, if so what is its heritage on the Reading Railroad (RDG)? It is also said that it was purchased from the RDG by the Pittsburgh & Shaumet (P&S) and made into a low nose. Can anyone help me?!?! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

The Chestnut Ridge unit is ex- P&S #10, a GP-7. It's actually originally NYC #5817. The P&S did have an ex-RDG unit, this was RDG #608, and was P&S #357, named Dan Wesson. This unit was scrapped in 1985.

Feel free to contact me if you want more info on this unit or the P&S, or check out Dennis Synder's site for pictures of both units. nickd
