New bridge installed last year, but with old markings, on the Adirondack Scenic RR. Nice touch.

Ooooh, I like it! The lettering looks identical to that on an existing old bridge in Little Falls, NY. Someone kept the old blueprints.

Post subject:  Adirondack Scenic Railroad News?

Hello all,

Does anybody here have some current news on the news Adirondack Scenic Railroad (or would be willing to contact them to get some news)?

A bridge of this magnitude is a major investment - and could easily be in the top-10 of major projects for this past year. Their website does not seem to have a news section. Instead their news section points to an individual's site on the railroad - where the newest news hinted at scrapping a wood bunk-car in Lake Placid.

The bridge in question was part of a road realignment project undertaken by NY State DOT. It was not a capital project for the Adirondack Scenic. Though built as an all welded fabrication, the design approximates a classic riveted plate girder bridge. NY State DOT is the acutal owner of the rail line and has a close relationship with the Adirondack Scenic which provided the historic information to recreate a classic structure as part of the road project.
