Research question: What would the builder’s plate of N&W's BLW TE-1, “Jawn Henry” have said in regard to its classification? BLW diesels said “diesel electric” (I think.) All the pictures I have found are too low in resolution to tell, but it was a square diesel-type plate. The drawing for it is missing at the Penn State Archives.

Contact the N&W Historical Society. One of their members, Louis Newton, (who is also a very active volunteer in that organization) was a test engineer on the "Jawn Henry". He retired from NS as a Vice-President. He has written 4 superb books about his experiences on the railroad, one of which had a considerable focus on "Jawn" and the N&W in that era. He may very well remember the plate. Louis' books are available from N&WHS and the O. Winston Link Museum gift shop.

Thanks, I have the book. They did not think they had a good picture of the plate. I will ask them again for Mr. Newton's contact info.
